We are in Fall and headed into the holidays. Is anyone else in disbelief with how fast time is moving or is it just me?! It is shocking that there are only a couple months left in the year.
Anywho, I recently got back from a much needed vacation and it reminded me of the beauty of slowing down and enjoying life. I personally have a very busy life and most days it feels as though I am just trying to keep up with all the tasks at hand and it seems as though there is always something to do.
The thing is, sometimes we spend so much time and energy trying to "keep up" and fit everything into our days that we can’t even enjoy them! However, sometimes we are most productive when we take a moment to step away from our busy lives.
That’s when the ideas start flowing, motivation finds us again, and maybe we finally get that spark of inspiration that we have been waiting for. All that to say that sometimes rest is the work. Yes there is value in productivity, but there is also value in taking time for ourselves. Don’t forget that.
If you’re like me and find it hard to slow down sometimes, here are a few things that help me do just that. Hopefully they help you too.
Turn off Your Phone
A great way to practice slowing down is unplugging. Turn your phone off for an hour, a day, a weekend, etc. At the very least, trying silencing some (or all) of the notifications on your phone so there are fewer dings, beeps and badges getting your attention.
Get Outside
Getting outside can lower your blood pressure, reduce feelings of stress or anxiety, increase creativity and memory, boost immunity and more. Another great benefit of getting outside is that it helps you slow down and let go of some of the busyness of life.
